Just a year after the iPhone app store opened its Internet doors, nearly 60,000 iPhone apps roam the street. Some have a place to go because they serve a purpose. Others just sort of wander around looking for their meaning in life.
Here are a few iPhone apps worth noting. Try a few on for size and see how they fit.
1. Hey Where Are You? While nobody likes to have everyone knowing what they’re doing all times, this iPhone app helps you get connected to important people like family and friends to let them know what you are doing. Asking and answering the question, “Hey, where are you?” users can keep each other up to date on their comings and goings. It’s a lot easier to get the crowd out to happy hour if they know you are already there? Like many of the iPhone apps available, this one helps you stay connected.
2. Print and Share Let’s be honest. Our printing ambitions usually end up as pipe dreams. Sure, I’ll get you that New Year’s Eve photo as soon as I recover from New Years, but I’ll probably lose it all in the New Year’s Day hangover. The best intentions don’t get off the ground unless we act on them right way. Print and Share lets your iPhone tell your computer to print, so you can print the goods while you are far away from home. It’s one of the good iPhone apps that make it easier to do today what could easily be put off until tomorrow.
3. Read it later. Often, the most interesting material on the Internet is stumbled across while you’re in the middle of something. That’s why the Internet can be so distracting. You find a million things you need to read now simply because there’s no guarantee you’ll find it again. Like many iPhone apps that put the world of information at our fingertips, Read it Later helps you to save pages to your iPhone for reading at more convenient times. Read that business article when you have down time on the bus or are stuck at the DMV with finger twiddling time on your hands.

Can your phone read you Shakespeare as you go to bed at night? With the right selection of iPhone apps available, it probably can. IPhone technology has really gotten off the hook, with possibilities ranging from music streaming to finding the best hotel prices to 16th century literature, all in the palm of your hand.
In fact, the iPhone is capable of so much that admittedly, not all of it is worth doing. While some iPhone apps merely give a technological nerd a job, others will dramatically improve your every day life. Here are a few of the iPhone apps worth shouting about.
Yelp- Lost in the city and can’t find a good bar or restaurant? Give it your best Yelp. This iPhone app will help you find nearby bars, restaurants and banks, though you might not want to hit them in that order. You get the location, directions, and even more. Yelp will offers thousands of reviews from regular Joe users, not just the New York Times. You can also try Urban Spoon, which offers similar services to find eateries.
NYTimes- Speaking of the New York Times, the paper that sets the curve in journalism makes its voluminous editions easy to stream using the iPhone. You can find stories by the section of each day, or view the most popular stories to find out what New Yorkers are gabbing about. The text is surprisingly easy to read on screen, backed by full-color photos. It’s a unique application. Almost no other iPhone apps stream entire media publications to your phone.
Stanza – Stuck waiting for a train without a book? The Stanza puts every classic novel in the palm of your hand, as well as any book you can find in their large array of public domain files. You can even add lengthy Word of PDF files and edit your term paper on the train. This is one of those iPhone apps that appeal to a wide range of age groups and careers, from college students to federal attorneys. Don’t expect to find Healthcliff’s Just for Laughs in their public domain, however, if you can’t get your reading tastes out of the third grade.
Jott – Does the iPhone’s digital computer keyboard cramp your brain? Jott transfers voice mail into text so you can avoid all that typing. It’s ideal for text messaging if all that button pushing drives you mad.
Stanley Brasen can’t stop raving about the capabilities of the iPhone and all the iPhone apps available.

If you’ve used the internet even a little, you will be aware of affiliate marketing – you know when you get an email persuading you go to a website and sign up for a free trial. Are these sites genuine. How can they give free iPhones away? It sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Well, when you delve a little deeper you’ll see a business plan which does make sense, and which seems to be working. Let me explain.
What is affiliate marketing and how does it work?
Affiliate marketing is a clever way to get people to sign up to what you are offering. The most common form is google ads which appear as hyperlinks next to the google search that you just performed. When these links are clicked, a commission is paid to the person hosting the link either when someone clicks on the link, or when they buy something from the site. Typically this is small, but in the case of many sites, they can be substantially higher.
How can they afford to give away iPhones, PS3s and digital cameras?
It’s easy to understand when you study it a bit. To claim your ‘free’ gift, you need to join up to a site such as kudosnetwork or freebiejeebies (for UK, USA and Canada) and sign up to a promotion such as an online film rental trial. Once you’ve done this, you select a gift that you want which will have been attributed a certain number of referrals. The higher the number of referrals the higher the value of the gift. Say you needed 18 referrals for your gift, you would need to get 18 people to sign up via your link. By the time your 18 friends have managed to get 18 more friends to sign up, the site has 324 customers, by the next 18, that number has risen to 5832. In a very short period of time, the numbers stack up very quickly, making a lot of money in commission for the site owner.
Advertising is not cheap, and when the consumer is paid instead of the advertising company, it adds up to quite a lot of nice free ’stuff’. Of course they say ‘free’, but there is time involved although little or not money leaves the hands of the savvy. Hence the appeals to youngsters (who tend to have lots of the former and rather less of the latter).
What’s in it for the middleman, the website owner?
Considerable amounts of money, of course. He needs you, however, to make the wheels turn – the reason he comes up with salivating prizes to get you off your bum selling on his behalf. You are charged with the job of working out which of your friends would be interested in such a scheme, and more importantly which of your friends wouldn’t, and you keep pushing to reach your goal like a salesman after his bonus (iPhone). Meanwhile Mr. Site Owner sits there taking a commission for every sale her gets, and passes on a residual to you in the form of your gift. His marketing is clever, and as you can see, he is doing very well out of it.
But if everyone completed their referrals, wouldn’t the site lose money?
It is possible that if everyone suddenly did complete all their referrals, that the site might temporarily be out of pocket, but they would raise the amount of referrals required to ensure that they are always making a profit. As you come at the bottom of the chain, you are the last to get paid, so to speak, so know that the sites always have cash, and that’s how they honour their contract with you, and give you your iPhone. Also remember, it pays for them to keep their reputation sweet amongst their agents (you guys), as without you and your clever efforts, they are nothing. Can they really afford to go around making promises they can’t keep? Not for long, and these sites are alive and well and have been for some time, so it appears they’ve got the balance right.
What about the advertisers?
Again, they probably would lose customers (and money) if all people cancelled, but this is never the case. There are always people who forget, or who don’t know how to cancel. More importantly, the company gets one very important thing; your attention. They get a chance to make a good impression. Think of it as a ‘loss-leader’, a sales call. If they can convince you that what they are selling you is good, then you will buy it and they will have a happy customer and a revenue stream. The reality is that some will stay, some will go, and some will forget to cancel their direct debit (and so remain ‘gym’ members by default)
So, is affiliate marketing worth getting involved in?
Yes. Absolutely. And for everyone involved. Just have patience and determination and you will get there. If you don’t believe me, have a look on the web and see for yourself. The internet is plastered with examples of success stories of affiliate marketing. The question is, what have you got to lose by giving it a go?
The two main sites for UK, USA and Canada are Kudos Network and freebiejeebies Enjoy!

I’ve had my iPhone for over a year now, and I love the apps on the phone. There’s no better way for me to pass the time now, whether I’m riding on the train or waiting for an appointment to begin.
The library of games available for download continues to grow, and each month I see some great new additions to the list. By the time you read this article, I’ll probably have moved on to some more great iPhone games. Either way, these are some games that are definitely worth checking out. I’m going to give you three that I think you’ll enjoy.
1. Paper toss. This is a really fun game that requires you to throw a piece of paper into a garbage while inside an office. It sounds simple in nature, and it is, but it’s really challenging too. Many others seem to share my opinion, as it’s one of the top downloads.`
What makes the game hard is the fact that a fan influences the direction of your paper toss, making it harder to get it into the garbage with each level. This makes it a lot of fun as you try to build a streak.
The next game that I’ve fallen in love with is Cameraman, made by ESPN. You’ve probably enjoyed a similar concept before, but this is the type of game that puts you on a timer and requires you to find a bunch of differences between two very similar pictures.
All of the questions are sports-themed, and they’re really challenging too. I would definitely look into this one if it sounds like it may appeal to you.
If you like word games, you definitely need to get Scramble, which is also a free game. It’s just like Boggle, except you’ll be able to play against a ton of people at the same time, all of them having the same board as you. It’s a lot of fun to see where you end up ranking when all is said and done.
Try any of these games out. Based on their overall popularity, I have a feeling you’ll enjoy them very much.
