   He seems like such a nice person. It’s hard to believe he made films like Eraserhead and Rabbits which scarred me to no end with their disturbing surrealism.

   I agree. But the kind of people who watch films on their iPhone aren’t really looking to experience cinema. I personally try to see all the films I can at the cinema, because it’s debatable whether you can completely experience a film even on DVD (when the intended destination was the cinema).

    Um, the point of watching a movie on your phone is NOT to EXPERIENCE it, but to occupy otherwise idle time in an entertaining way, like commuting to work or flying.

    Well i love both LYNCH and APPLE… what can i do? The truth is in the middle, watching movies on iPhone of course is not the same level of experience of a theater.

    If you think of how much work goes into making a film look great, you’ll understand his frustration. A hell of a lot of work and planning go into such things as set design, lighting, sound, mise en scene and even the film stock. Imagine the frustration the film maker must feel knowing that a large part of this work has gone to waste. People aren’t seeing the art as it’s intended.

    This of course excludes chick flicks and teen comedies. Feel free to watch those on your phone.

    I whole-heartedly agree… you ever make corndogs in the microwave? Oven corndogs are way better. It is as if they are two totally different foods.

    Movies on I-phone or I-pod? Forget it…right down there with microwaved corndogs. You are indeed cheating yourself. .
