How do you download apps to an iphone that is no longer in service?

I have got my dad’s old iphone to use as an ipod, so it’s not in service right now. Does anyone know a way you can download apps without having to have it in service with at&t?

sure, thats easy!
all you need it itunes and internet. Im assuming that you already have itunes on your computer to manage your computer, so all you need to do is go to it, and click on ‘iTunes Store.’ Next, look for a box labeled iTunes store, which is in the top left hand corner of the store. there is a list of things there like music, movies, tv shows, etc…and at the bottom of that list is the ‘app store’..click on it and then you are brought to the app store. From there, browse the apps and download whichever ones you want. Then connect your iphone to the computer, the apps that you downloaded should automatically sync to the phone. If they dont, go the (your name here’s) iphone under the devices list on the left side of itunes, click on the applications tab at the top of the page and make sure the box labeled sync all apps is checked
thats it!

If you have an Apple account, you can buy the Apps but I’m not sure if you have to service to play/download the Apps…just test it out and see. If it doesn’t work, then you can just listen to music.

You can jailbreak it. It’s a fast process but you will need iTunes installed.
This won’t void your warranty because you can just reinstall the original firmware from the apple site later on. The link below is an article that shows how to do it.
