Why does iTunes delete all my tracks on my iPhone when I download new tracks?

Hi. When I download new content to my iPhone from iTunes it deletes all existing tracks on my iPhone for some reason? It appears to delete everything else but keeps the new content I have just download. I am baffled and unsure what to do?! Can anyone with a better knowledge than mine help?

This could be your settings in itunes. You may have or have not changed your prefs. and when you download something new and sync your phone its only syncing your new content removing existing stuff on your phone. It should still be in itunes.
I have mine set to Manually sync so if I don’t have the app. or song checked in the box even if already on my phone when I sync its removed and the new or checked content is installed with whatever else was checked. You should be able to set it to sync everything but if you have more apps an such like movies you should sync what you want manually! Hope this helps a little, good luck
Oh!, also if you bought music or apps etc. and got deleted you can get them back by redownloading and will it will say you have already purchased this, download again? Click yes and its downloaded back to your iphone or itunes with no second charge. ( Not sure for rented movies, maybe within the rental time limit)

my SIL had one of those – there is a setting to add to or to overwrite..
